FAQ

 HOUSE DUES

What are House Dues?
House dues are not mandatory for residents of Eliot. They are a package of tickets to Eliot's formals. Paying dues gives you a ticket for you and a ticket for a guest to Winter Formal, and Fête of the same academic year. The price of dues does not increase from the fall to spring, unless you studied abroad, took time off, or are a freshman.

How can I purchase House Dues?
Dues are available through the Harvard Box Office and are SEF eligible. They can also be purchased through Venmo or with cash or credit card during tabling in the dining hall during Community Dinner on Thursday nights. If you Venmo, please send a screenshot of your payment.

Can anyone at Harvard buy a House Dues package?
While we welcome guests from other houses, only members of Eliot House can purchase House Dues. This is due to capacity restrictions for the event.

Can I transfer my dues package to another name?
Transactions must be between Eliot House Members ONLY. If you decide to make this transaction, please email with evidence that both parties have made the transfer clear. "Tickets" to Fête (Eliot resident and +1) will belong to the person whose name is on the dues package.

What can I do if I am not SEF-eligible but am unable to afford paying the full cost of dues?
We understand that $65 may pose a significant financial obstacle. If you are unable to afford the dues package, please email @eliothousecommittee and/or contact your
House Committee Co-Chairs. We will work with you to find a solution! All of your information will remain confidential. We care about your presence in the house community, and you are still welcome to attend all house events.

FÊTE

What is Fête?
Fête is Eliot House’s Spring formal and a long time tradition in the house. It is definitelyone of Harvard College’s most anticipated house events! Eliot House Committee encourages members of the house to join the Fête Committee, determine a Fête theme, and help plan any events leading up to Fête during Fête Week. Fête features a live band, hor d’oeuvres in the dining hall, chocolate-covered strawberries in the Junior Common Room (JCR), a cocktail and mocktail bar, and a sheltered dance floor in the courtyard.

When is Fête?
Fête usually takes place during the first week of May in Eliot House, from 10PM - 2AM.

How can I pick up my tickets?
There are no physical tickets. Instead, Eliot House Committee records your name on a guest list for Fête once you pay your dues. This is done during tabling in the dining hall. If you want to confirm that you have paid dues, email @eliothousecommittee@gmail.com.

How can I register my guest?
Once you’ve purchased dues, you will eventually be emailed a link to a Plus One Form. You can register one guest. The form will remain open until the day before Fête, so that
everyone has time to invite and confirm their guest. If you have questions about changing your guest, email @eliothousecommittee@gmail.com.

Are there single tickets available for purchase?
Eliot House Committee does not sell single tickets. The only way to find a single ticket is to purchase someone's plus one ticket. HoCo is committed to ensuring that Fête is an
accessible and welcoming event. For that reason, we discourage up-charging of extra Fête Plus One tickets by Eliot House Students. We recommend that students sell their
tickets at a reasonable price (i.e. the price of house dues!)

What are other events leading up to Fete?
There are also several events leading up to the formal, which we hope you take part in, like swing dancing lessons, bow tie lessons, and strawberry dipping.
