Doug and Gail
We are delighted to welcome you to Eliot House, and look forward to sharing the conversations and good times ahead! A bit about us- Doug holds the Saris University Professorship, and is co-chair of the Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology, encompassing labs at the Harvard Medical School and here at the College. His research is in regeneration of pancreatic beta cells and diabetes. He loves to talk science of any type, and will happily talk about cloning a mastadon for our very own Eliot House mascot.
Gail migrated from an undergrad degree in biology to environmental policy, then to developmental and cognitive psychology. We have a love of family, friends, science and politics in common, but we differ in our sports preferences- Doug enjoys his time on courts (tennis, squash, basketball), while Gail prefers to be outdoors whenever possible (running, bicycling, skiing). We are always looking for someone to share our daily dog walks, if you’re so inclined. Layla is the white, older dog who loves people. Echo is the brown pup who loves rabbits.
We hope and expect for you to join us in the Dining Hall and fill us in on your life. Floreat Domus de Eliot!
